📖 Our Story
Soldiers, Scouts, Students began with one broken sign — and a big idea.
While walking through his hometown of Leicester, MA, Scout leader and community member Phil Olivo noticed that many of the town’s Gold Star memorial squares were faded, overgrown, or forgotten. These places — meant to honor local service members who gave their lives — were being overlooked.
Phil brought Scouts, students, and veterans together to clean them up, research the names behind the signs, and create digital QR codes so the stories could live on and be easily accessed by future generations.
That first project in Leicester sparked a bigger movement — one that any town can make their own. With help from schools, veterans’ organizations, and volunteers, we’re proving that you don’t need a big budget to make a big impact. Just people who care.
