🇺🇸 Brian Sweeney 9/11 Memorial – Digital Connection
In a quiet corner of Spencer, Massachusetts, a simple granite monument honors Brian Sweeney — a Spencer native, Navy veteran, and passenger aboard United Flight 175 on September 11, 2001.
A QR code installed at the memorial links directly to the official 9/11 Memorial & Museum archive video, where Brian’s widow shares his final voicemail and reflections on his courage and legacy.
The story, once known mostly to those in his hometown, now reaches people everywhere — reminding us of unity, sacrifice, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.

🏫 South Spencer Schoolhouse & Memorial Project – Youth Leadership in Action
In South Spencer, Massachusetts, a small historic schoolhouse and surrounding memorial area stand as a powerful reminder of the town’s heritage — honoring local veterans of World War II and Vietnam, alongside a historic cannon that symbolizes past generations’ service and sacrifice.
This site will soon become the next Soldiers, Scouts, Students project, blending education, preservation, and youth leadership. The effort is being led by Scouts from Troop 116, working in partnership with the Gaudette–Kirk American Legion Post 138, the Town of Spencer, local librarians, and community volunteers.
Together, they’ll restore the grounds, research the stories behind the memorials, and explore digital ways to preserve and share this local history. The project will help young people connect with their community’s legacy while learning the values of service, teamwork, and leadership.

Scouts from Troop 116 are teaming up with the Gaudette–Kirk American Legion Post 138 and community partners to revitalize the historic South Spencer Schoolhouse and surrounding veterans’ memorials — uniting education, remembrance, and youth leadership in one project.
Together, these efforts represent the heart of Soldiers, Scouts, Students — uniting veterans, youth, and communities in shared service and remembrance.
